The Morrison Hotel on Dublin's Ormond Quay has had a makeover. The recent re-opening was of course full of all the beautiful young things and in today's economic climate we must wish anyone well who is trying to run a business.
Now, the likes of you and I rarely get to see the bedrooms of Dublin's hotels but I am told they have been redesigned by architect Nikki O'Donnell.
My use of the Morrison however is its all day dining bar menu . It is a pleasant place to sit, looking out over the quays and in a comfy sofa lounge area. It is perfect for a lunch snack of soup after shopping, but my main use would be as a pre-theatre supper. The Abbey and The Gate are only 10 minutes walk away and rather than get into the 2-course, 3-course restricted menu we opt for the €18 fish and chips or the €15/16 beef or chicken burger and leave to nip up the road for the show. If you prefer there are sharing platters, open sandwiches and much more.
